The girls have all been showing fantastic improvements across the court and on Saturday all 4 grades walked away with a win, which is a fantastic result!
The Senior netballers are currently sitting in 4th place with after suffering 2 losses against last years grand finalist Lake Wendouree and East Point.
The Reserve grade is currently in 3rd position. They have won 3 of their games and have only suffered 1 loss in round 2 against Lake Wendouree.
The C grade girls also have only suffered one loss which was also against a strong Lake Wendouree team, which sees them currently sitting in 2nd place
The U/18.5 girls had a hard fought out game in round 2 which resulted in a loss by 5 goals. The girls are currently in 2nd position!
Congratulations to Erin Riley, Ash Vagg, Bianca Woods and Emily McNamara who have been invited to attend interleague training for the U/18.5 team, and Kathryn Murphy, Phoebe Knoz, Sarah-Jane McDonald and Emma Henry for the senior team.

Congratulations to BFL representatives

Ballarat defeated Geelong in the Interleague Championships  by 12 points  (90-78) at the Eastern Oval today, a result which may have surprised not only the Geelong team but many  experts who thought Geelong would be too strong.

Redan had eight representatives in the final squad and all those who took the field acquitted themselves very well with Ryan Waight being  awarded the best player for the Ballarat side.

Ballarat hit the ground running and opened a big break in the first quarter, which Geelong tried all day to peg back, getting the margin at one stage  back under a goal and, except for inaccurate kicking in the last quarter, could have pinched the game.

Of the Redan players, Ryan Knowles kicked a couple of goals,  Isaac Smith kicked one,  Sam Giblett  did well  in defence and Jarrod Edwards, who was captain, was as usual everywhere, but Redan supporters can be proud of  all their representatives who will fight on   as they  attempt to take the overall title.

Congratulations  to the Ballarat team  and to the BFL for taking the step of streaming the match live on the internet for all those  who were'nt able to get to the oval.  It was a bit grainy to watch but it gave a  good coverage.

Senior Football Report

E-mail Print PDF
Four games in and the senior side is still undefeated with three wins and a draw. Had those results been offered before the start of the season, we certainly would have taken it, so we have started the season well. Similar to last year, we have been somewhat inconsistent with our performances thus far, but the difference this year has been, we're still doing enough to get the four points.
Our last outing, a night game vs North City, saw us prevail by around 10 goals. After a dogged first three quarters, we kicked clear in the final stanza. The hit-out highlighted various areas of our game we need to work on. The group is focused on continually improving our game to become more consistent on game days.
Today we face a competitive Melton side, which has pushed some of the stronger sides in the league. We look forward to working hard as a unit to ensure we get the desired result and head into a two week lay-off with 4 wins on the board.
Finally, I encourage all players to make sure they have paid their subs and secured player sponsors for the season. Good luck to all other sides, both in the football and netball. Hopefully the new netball court arrives as soon as possible to enable the girls to get on there for some home games this season.

Reserves Football Report

E-mail Print PDF
After a good performance in round 2 against The Lakers the reserves have played some up and down football and now need to start to build some consistency and momentum from week to week. After a heavy lost to Ballarat where we played poorly and were never in the game the boys responded well to come out with a win against North City under lights last week.

With some changes to team structure Sam Buchanan (club voucher) was most impressive at CHF taking some strong marks across half forward and kicking 4 goals. The word from some of the uni boys is that he has started calling himself St Nick after the St Kilda captain. The serial pest Bryan (Wilfred) Beckham (George Drink Cards) continued his good form with a 4 goals and also some good work further up the ground. Other good players were Scott Ware (JD's award), Jason Hinkley (Golf Voucher) and Joel Matthews (George Drink Cards).

This week against Melton it is important that we can win heading into the interleague and bye which would leave us in a responsible position of 3 and 2. Thanks to all the award sponsors and good luck to the netballers and seniors and under 18s
